Mold Growth in Carpet
It's the Water That You Don't See That Does the Most Damage.
This homeowner had sustained water damage in the first floor of their home. The carpets in the bedrooms were soaked. It turned out, this was not the first time these carpets had soaked up a fair amount of water.
The carpet, itself, gave off a musty odor indicating the presence of mold spores. Because the homeowner had tried to dry the carpet on their own the previous time, all of the water was not extracted and the carpet pad was left soaking underneath the carpet. This left a perfect environment for mold to grow.
If you suffer any kind of water loss, don't try to go it alone. It's often the water that you don't see, hiding in the drywall or underneath a carpet pad, that does the most damage.
